Credit and Collection Specialist

Position
Summary:
Responsible for maintaining a high level of consistent and quick cash flow while asserting continuous efforts of building and preserving positive customer relationships. Position requires soft collection efforts, account reconciliation, cash application & efficient risk assessment and execution.

Essential Functions:
Customer Maintenance: all new & existing accounts must be updated and maintained on a daily basis to make certain the database contains accurate and current information.
Credit Applications & Credit Limit Reviews: each credit rep is responsible for processing credit applications for new & existing dealers. All accounts must have a credit limit review every 12 mos.
Credit Letters: draft & mail credit letters awarding new & existing customers with a new or change line of credit.
Research & resolution: all charge-backs and/or collection issues that are a result of price discrepancies, un-earned discounts, special discounting, etc. will require thorough research & communication, including but not limited to obtaining proof of deliveries, customer service communication, outside sales rep communication, etc.
Risk Assessment: using D&B software, responsibilities include monitoring risk for all designated accounts and forecasting and/or preventing bad debt. Any and all findings should be communicated to CM & actions items will be determined as a result of these findings.
Document distribution: maintain (at the customer maintenance level) all forms distribution of invoices and acknowledgments.
Cash application: assist with the application of all daily incoming cash receipts
Payment processing: check-by-phone, credit cards, wire transfer, EFT's any/all forms of payment are accepted and must be applied to the general ledger.
Incoming credit inquiries: responsible for answering incoming credit inquiries for designated set of accounts as well as fulfilling the bi-weekly BPCA reporting requirements.
Credit & Debit Memos: process (data entry) and distribute to customer.
Qualifications, Skills and Education
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent

yrs commercial collections experience
1
yrs commercial accounts receivable experience
Preferred Qualifications
College coursework in basic accounting, finance and/or business administration
NACM (or any other accredited Credit Management Assoc) CE's
Familiarity with Dun & Bradstreet credit risk assessment & decision making
Proficient written and verbal communication skills
Clear understanding of the business cycle from order process to collection process
Experience working in a Manufacturing business to business environment
